Calendar of recruitment for the Internships for young doctors "Society – Technologies – Environment" in English:

  • Applications must be presented to the project office between 9th – 31th May 2013 (an on-line form is available on the project website ). The applications presented after deadline and the incomplete ones will not be considered.
  • Interviews: 10th and 11th June 2013 (a list of people invited to the qualifying phase will be published on the project website)

 Required certification for academic achievements 

 

Recruitment for the Internships will consist of two phases.

In the first phase, a ranking list of candidates will be drawn up on the basis of the documents, which have been presented.

The basis of ranking is an evaluation, consisting of the following elements, each of which is given a suitable weight (multiplier):

  • Scientific publications in the last 5 years evaluated with points according to the list used for scientific units evaluation (weight: 0,6; max.50 points);
  • Documented participation in a research project team or leadership in research projects (weight: 0,1; max.50 points);
  • The research project which candidate will elaborate during internship (weight: 0,3; max.50 points).

The research project which candidate will elaborate during internship should consist of 3 600 characters and should include following parts:

  • Description of project / topics which candidate will elaborate during internship;
  • Description of the possibilities of application for external research funding (specification of possible funding sources, with justification);
  • Description of the possibilities of publishing (specification of journals from the ministerial list, with justification);
  • Justification for the choice of a tutor and a unit with regard to research plans.

The list used for scientific units evaluation consist of:

  • Publications in journals from the Ministry of Science and Higher Education list (points are awarded according to the Ministry of Science and Higher Education list)
Index of journals contains from three part:
Part A – it includes the amount of points for the publication in journals poses the Impact Factor (IF), which is include in the Journal Citation Reports (JCR) base;
Part B – it includes the amount of point for the publication in journals dose not poses the Impact Factor (IF);
Part C - it include the amount of points for the publication in journals which are being included in the European Reference Index for the Humanities (ERIH) base
  • Chief Editor of a journal from the Ministry of Science and Higher Education list;
  • Authorship  of a monograph or academic textbook in English or in the basic language of the discipline;
  • Authorship  of a monograph or academic textbook in a language other than English or the basic language of the discipline;
  • Authorship  of a chapter in a monograph or academic textbook in English or in the basic language of the discipline;
  • Authorship  of a chapter in a monograph or academic textbook in a language other than English or the basic language of the discipline;
  • Chief Editor of a multi-author monograph, academic textbook or an edition series in English or in the basic language of the discipline;
  • Chief Editor of a multi-author monograph, academic textbook or an edition series in a language other than English or the basic language of the discipline.

Applications should include following annexes:

    • Opinion of the direct supervisor on accepting a young doctor for scientific internship, including a trustworthy opinion;
    • A document attesting the granting of a Ph. D. scientific degree (the document must include the date of the granting of the scientific degree);
    • A copy of the first page of all publications (if applicable);
    • Attestation of participation in a research project team or leadership in research projects (issued by the Project Manager, or in case of the leadership - by a scientific tutor) (if applicable).

The procedure used for drawing up a ranking list will contain the following criteria:

  1. Each criterion will be evaluated on a 0-50 scale, standardized to the highest value of the entire group of candidates, and multiplied by a suitable weight;
  2. The results obtained in such a way for each criterion will then be summed up for each candidate;
  3. The median of results of the candidates from each nine faculties will be calculated (separately for each faculty);
  4. A candidate's final result is based on the difference between the evaluation of the candidate and the median at his original faculty.

The second phase of recruitment for the Internships for young doctor will be an interview in English, for which the candidates, placed in the top positions of the ranking, will be invited. The candidates will be asked to prepare a short presentation about the research project which a candidate will elaborate during internships. After the presentation, a candidate should be prepared to answer questions from the commission members. In this phase the evaluation is based on skills which include mostly self-presentation, ability to answer questions, and level of English.

After second phase, a list will be drawn up, taking into account achievements of candidates from both phases. Maximum points for the second phase will be equal to 1/3 of the highest value from the first phase.
